Make Way for More O'Neill.
The O’Neill is set for the historic expansion of our Waterford, CT theater campus and we’d love for you to join us as we dig in. Rain or shine, the groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13 at 11am and marks a major artistic and physical expansion of the O’Neill.
The largest in the O’Neill’s nearly 50-year history, the expansion includes seven new dormitory cottages to provide living space for 65 artists and faculty, a laundry facility, and a new rehearsal hall complete with individual practice rooms. It will also include renovation to existing buildings, converting them into additional production and rehearsal spaces.
This expansion will help to welcome the newest program of the National Theater Institute, the National Music Theater Institute (NMTI). A brand-new sister program to the National Theater Institute Semester, NMTI will offer an intensive training program in all areas of musical theater,—acting, singing, directing, writing, dance, composition, choreography— to students from the U.S. and abroad. Construction of the new facilities is scheduled to be completed in time for the inaugural NMTI semester in fall 2014.
A short presentation will follow the groundbreaking ceremony in the Rose Theater Barn. We’ll share details and a timeline of the expansion project as well as learn more about NMTI. We hope that you’ll join us and support this next phase in support of the O’Neill’s mission to discover, develop, and nurture new work and new artists for the stage.
Space is limited. For more information about this event, please contact Ainslie Seeber, Special Events Manager, at (860) 443-5378 ext 285 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center is located at 305 Great Neck Road, Waterford, CT 06385.
We look forward to celebrating with you!
