A Campaign for American Theater
The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center discovers, nurtures, and develops new work and new artists for the stage, in memory of its namesake, America’s greatest dramatist. Marking its 50th Anniversary in 2014, the theater broke ground to expand its campus, supporting new programs, students and artists aligned with this mission.
With the extraordinary support of the donors and friends listed below, the O’Neill campus now boasts eight new cottages and a new rehearsal hall to create living, rehearsal, and production space for an additional 65 artists and faculty. A theatrical village, designed by Centerbrook Architects as a traditional New England hamlet, accommodates the newest program in intensive theatrical training, the music theater division of the National Theater Institute, and serves as an artistic retreat for playwrights, composers, and puppeteers year round. The O’Neill is the Launchpad of American Theater.
